Clay Bodies by Dylan Karges

Is it just me or is this reminiscent of the cache of Chinese ceramic soldiers — the Terracotta Army — ???

“Clay Bodies” by Dylan Karges

I found that I was very emotionally moved by the pictures and images of all the bodies — similar and yet eerily dissimilar — all grouped together according to color, height and flow. The installation has a very otherworldly quality to it. I wish I had seen it in person. I think it’s extremely inspirational.

What I find really interesting is: “Early figures were fired with bubbles deliberately left in the clay; this caused them to blow up in the kiln. The fragments were then painstakingly glued back together for exhibition.” Wow. What a wonderful concept, extremely original. Wondering if I should do something similar.
